While the world observes *World Health Day* today, raising awareness about disease prevention, healthy lifestyles, and universal healthcare access, the situation in Khanpur paints a stark contrast.

A government hospital in Landhora has been reeling under a severe water crisis for the past seven months. The *Community Health Center* in Landhora, serving thousands of patients, is now facing critical challenges due to the lack of water—especially during the summer heat. Patients, doctors, and staff are all struggling even for a single drop of water.

Despite daily OPDs of over a hundred patients and catering to residents from dozens of nearby villages, the hospital has failed to find a permanent solution to the water problem. While there is a maternity unit in the hospital, due to the absence of water, residents are forced to opt for private hospitals for deliveries. In the past seven months, only 15 deliveries have taken place at the hospital, whereas the area sees around 350 pregnant women each month.

The lack of water is also affecting essential services like the TB treatment unit. Despite having a lab for dispensing medication, even basic hygiene like handwashing for doctors is not possible—raising serious health concerns for both patients and medical staff.

Even after months of suffering, the health department has failed to take effective action. Patients, attendants, and staff are forced to fetch water from nearby markets. Locals have expressed deep frustration, urging the authorities to implement a permanent solution for the water crisis so that patients don’t have to suffer due to such a basic lack.
