Bribery on the Rise Due to Lavish Spending for Desired Postings: Jansangharsh Morcha
“Officials recovering money spent on postings by indulging in unethical activities”
Government fails to curb rampant bribery
Nothing gets done in the government without bribes

Vikasnagar: Jansangharsh Morcha President and former GMVN Vice Chairman **Raghunath Singh Negi**, while addressing the media, said that under the patronage of the government and middlemen, a majority of corrupt officials and employees in the state have turned into “man-eaters”. The growing number of officials being caught for bribery is a direct result of the fact that many spend **lakhs or even crores of rupees** to secure *desired transfers or plum postings*. In their attempt to recover these amounts, they resort to unethical practices, exploiting the public, he said.
Negi acknowledged the actions of the **Vigilance Department** in catching corrupt officials, calling it commendable. However, he added that the very need for such action is a shameful reflection on the government’s failure. He also alleged that the government has assigned “targets” to its revenue-generating officers, who are constantly engaged in loot and exploitation. Meanwhile, honest officers have been sidelined by the government.
He emphasized that no department in the state functions without bribes or facilitation fees. Even files do not move an inch without a bribe. He criticized the government for shamelessly patting itself on the back each time a corrupt official is caught, pointing out that this is, in fact, a **major failure** on the government’s part. “If everything were running honestly in the state, why would these officials be caught for bribery?” he questioned.
Negi further accused the **Raj Bhavan** of remaining silent and complicit in the corruption. Despite repeated attacks by the Jansangharsh Morcha, the Raj Bhavan has not taken any cognizance of the issue. Its silence and inaction have pushed the state into a downward spiral, which he termed no less than a curse. Had the Raj Bhavan been even slightly sensitive, such unethical practices would not be taking place.
Vijayram Sharma and Dilbagh singh were also present at the press conference.
