Vikasnagar: Jan Sangharsh Morcha President and former GMVN Vice-Chairman Raghunath Singh Negi, in a press conference, slammed the Dhami government, stating that while it proudly claimed action by seizing one or two illegal mining trolleys and suspending a sub-inspector, it’s nothing but an eyewash meant to mislead the public.
Negi challenged the government’s willpower, asking if it could take real action against the thousands of illegal mining trucks operating every night across districts like Dehradun, Udham Singh Nagar, Haridwar, and Nainital, tearing into riverbeds with impunity.
He alleged that the sub-inspector’s suspension was a token move, executed under pressure from the SSP merely to put up a show. According to Negi, this reflects how deeply embedded the entire system is in the illegal mining racket, including the government, administration, and even elements of the opposition.
Negi said the Morcha firmly believes that the *entire government deserves to be “suspended”* for its role in the mining scam. Taking action against only a few low-ranking officers while sparing high-level officials such as DIGs, IGs, DGPs, SSPs, DMs, and Commissioners clearly indicates the government’s complicity.
He further revealed that many divisional-level officers are either busy with YouTube/Facebook or focused on extortion rather than governance. Despite multiple rebukes from the Hon’ble High Court over illegal mining, revenue loss, and daytime riverbed excavation using heavy machinery, the government has shown zero remorse or intent to act.
He alleged that the entire state now functions under a mafia regime, leading to thousands of crores in lost revenue annually. Illegal mining continues unchecked every night, with truckloads of minerals disrupting the lives of ordinary citizens.
Negi asserted that the Morcha will not rest until this illegal mining racket is dismantled.
