Congress workers staged a strong protest and sit-in at the Srinagar Municipal Corporation premises against the Municipal Commissioner. Congress alleged that the Commissioner is obstructing developmental works of the corporation and that several cases of corruption have come to light during her tenure. Former State Congress President Ganesh Godiyal alleged that all this is happening under the patronage of the local MLA and a minister from the state government.
Ganesh Godiyal stated that in order to demand action against corruption, he will soon submit a memorandum to the District Magistrate of Pauri, detailing the corruption cases. He alleged that the minister has instructed the Municipal Commissioner to not cooperate, which has led to disruptions in the functioning of the municipality.
