The new advanced e-PoS machine introduced for ration distribution has turned into a major problem for ration card holders.
Recently, the e-PoS machine was launched in Haridwar district to ensure transparency and prevent fraud in the public distribution system. However, after the introduction of the modern machines, they have become a source of trouble for the cardholders. In several cases, cardholders’ fingerprints are not being recognized by the new system. Additionally, the iris scanning feature in the machine has not yet been activated.
As a result, people are forced to stand in long queues for hours and still return without receiving their rations. The e-PoS machines, which were launched at a cost of crores of rupees by the government, are now facing technical glitches. This has prevented the poor from receiving their entitled food grains, leading to widespread anger among the public.
