Congress MLA from Manglaur constituency in Haridwar district, Qazi Nizamuddin, has raised the issue of investigating the properties of the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC).
He stated that while the BJP introduces an amendment act to bring transparency in the Waqf Board, it does not conduct any investigation into the numerous properties owned by the BKTC.

Responding to this, Waqf Board Chairman and BJP leader Shadab Shams said that the BKTC cannot be compared to the Waqf Board. If a comparison has to be made, it should be with Dargah Sharif, which also owns more than 15 properties. He further added that just like non-Hindus are not allowed entry into Dargah Sharif, the BKTC also has similar provisions.
