Congress Slams Dehradun Municipal Corporation: Dhasmana Questions Silence on Smart City Scam Despite Action in Haridwar

Following directives from Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, strict action has been taken against the Haridwar Municipal Corporation. Four officials have been suspended for purchasing land at rates higher than the market price. Now, the Congress party is accusing the government of double standards. Congress says that while action was taken in Haridwar, no action has been initiated to date in the scam that took place in Dehradun.

Congress State Vice President Suryakant Dhasmana stated that thousands of crores were looted right under the government’s nose over the past five years. According to him, the Smart City scam is the biggest in Dehradun’s history, calling it “the king of all scams.” He alleged that Dehradun Municipal Corporation has been deeply involved in corruption. As for the new mayor, Dhasmana said their performance will be judged in the next five years, but the corporation’s actions in the past three plans have significantly damaged the city.

He added that not just in Uttarakhand, but across the country, if one looks for the most corrupt municipal corporation, Dehradun will top the list.
