Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan reviewed preparations for the Nanda Devi Rajjat Yatra 2026 at the Secretariat.
A review meeting for the preparations of the Nanda Devi Rajjat Yatra, scheduled for 2026, was held on Thursday at the Secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Shri Anand Bardhan. The Chief Secretary directed the Chamoli District Magistrate to promptly prepare a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) in coordination with all relevant departments and stakeholders to ensure the smooth and organized conduct of the entire yatra.
The Chief Secretary emphasized that no tampering should be done with the historical significance, uniqueness, and authenticity of the yatra. He also instructed the preparation of a documentary on the yatra. He stated that due to excessive rainfall this year, a reconnaissance of the yatra routes and stopovers should be conducted to assess their condition. Immediate action should be taken to repair the routes and stopovers, and arrangements for tents and other essentials should be ensured.
The Chief Secretary directed that priorities be set for all permanent and temporary works related to the Nanda Devi Rajjat Yatra. He instructed that major essential works be prioritized and initiated immediately. He further directed the Health Department to ensure the availability of health officers, medicines, portable oxygen, and medical equipment at every stopover and along the entire yatra route.
The Chief Secretary stressed the need for an inclusive SOP to be issued promptly, covering electrification of routes, health facilities, crowd management, food supplies, solid waste management, and sanitation management. He also instructed the concerned officials to prepare a waste management plan, septic management plan, and sanitation management plan for the entire yatra to ensure convenience for participants and prevent any environmental damage.
The meeting was attended by APCCF Shri Kapil Lal, Secretaries Shri Vinod Kumar Suman, Shri Dhiraj Singh Garbyal, Shri C. Ravishankar, Additional Secretary Shri Vineet Kumar, and other senior officials.
