Following this, the Governor participated as the Chief Guest in an interactive session with students and scientists at the Ratan Singh Auditorium of the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Pantnagar.
Addressing the students and scientists present in the auditorium, the Governor said it is a matter of pride that this university is not only renowned in India but is a prestigious center for agricultural and technical education across Asia. The university has played a pivotal role in bringing about revolutionary changes in Indian agriculture. Since its inception, it has been known for excellence in agricultural education, research, outreach, and development. Through the use of modern technologies, the university is giving new direction to agriculture and rural development.
He further stated that the three inaugurations are like the symbolic power of Lord Shiva’s trident and represent a significant step towards development. He emphasized that education is not just about textbooks, exams, and classrooms, but about holistic development. It is essential for students to excel academically while also participating in extracurricular activities, sports, and social engagement. He expressed confidence that these new centers will foster an environment promoting creativity, physical fitness, and mental well-being.
The Governor also highlighted the empowerment of women in Uttarakhand, saying the women of the state are creating a new narrative of self-reliance and success. Mothers, sisters, and daughters are making their mark in fields such as education, agriculture, entrepreneurship, sports, and administration. He praised self-help groups for acting as catalysts for women’s empowerment in the state, enabling thousands of women to achieve economic self-reliance.
He noted that the favorable climate and vegetation of Uttarakhand can greatly support beekeeping. Bees play a critical role in pollination, enhancing crop yields and quality. Honey production can increase farmers’ incomes and promote organic farming. Uttarakhand’s honey, known for its natural purity and medicinal properties, holds potential to capture national and international markets.
The Governor also emphasized the importance of sustainable agriculture and organic farming alongside technological development. He stressed the need for maintaining ecological balance and wisely using natural resources. Water conservation, maintaining soil fertility, and adopting modern agricultural techniques must be prioritized.
