On Wednesday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited his hometown Khatima as per his scheduled program to participate in the *Soldier Honor Ceremony* organized by the Seva Sankalp Dharini Foundation Uttarakhand on the occasion of the fifth death anniversary of his late father, Subedar Sher Singh Dhami.
There, he first participated in the *Bhoomi Pujan* (groundbreaking ceremony) of a 213-feet-high national flag being installed near Kanjabag Tiraha and performed rituals to officially inaugurate the project.
During the event, the Chief Minister, along with his mother, Smt. Vishna Devi, paid floral tributes to his late father, Subedar Sher Singh Dhami, as well as the brave martyrs of the state and saluted their sacrifices. A large number of local ex-servicemen, families of martyrs, and Veer Naris (war widows) were present at the event, who were honored by the Chief Minister.
In his address, CM Dhami said, “Whenever I am among soldiers, I get very emotional. We must do something to honor ex-servicemen and their families. My father used to celebrate every festival with people around him, in unity. Our government is also working on special schemes aimed at the upliftment of soldiers and their families, so that the coming generations have access to necessary resources and quality education.”
