Brokers/Blackmailers Have Made Life Miserable for the Common People

Their Profession Thrives Due to Corrupt Officials!

Investigation Should Be Conducted into the Property of These Brokers

Strict Punishment Should Be Imposed on Brokers/Blackmailers

Vikasnagar – Jansangharsh Morcha President and former Vice Chairman of GMVN, Raghunath Singh Negi, said that just as the government launched an operation named Kaalnemi across the state against fake godmen, similarly, the government should run a strict campaign against brokers/blackmailers who exploit the RTI (Right to Information) Act to engage in brokerage, so that such individuals who have turned RTI into a business can be brought under control and this menace can be stopped.

Negi said that the purpose of RTI is to address public concerns and to serve as an effective tool for ensuring justice to the people, but those who have nothing to do with public interest or concerns are using RTI as a means to loot and blackmail others.

Negi further said that the situation has become so dire that these brokers do not even spare those who can barely build a one- or two-room house. They threaten such people using RTI to extort money. These brokers do not have the courage to go after big builders.

Interestingly, these brokers only pursue matters till the first appeal – they do not have the guts to approach the Information Commission, fearing that they might be questioned about their real intent. Because of this fear, they avoid going to the Commission. Some brokers have already extorted lakhs or crores of rupees from the public. Their usual targets are small officers and employees, who can be easily trapped by them. If these brokers are not curbed, the problem could take the form of an epidemic.

The Morcha has approached the Chief Minister, Director General of Police, Chief Information Commissioner, etc., several times to clamp down on this brokerage practice, but no one has shown enough courage to act.

The Morcha demands that the government launch an operation like Kaalnemi against these brokers, investigate their activities and assets, so that these blackmailers can be put behind bars and the general public can get some relief.

Present at the press conference – Haji Asad and Praveen Sharma “Pinni”.
