Addressing the large gathering of self-help group members and rural entrepreneurs present at the fair, the Chief Minister said that this fair is a unique effort to showcase the rich cultural traditions, skills, and entrepreneurship of our rural areas. Through livelihood fairs, while on one hand, an excellent platform is provided to display local products, on the other, these fairs also help in realizing the honorable Prime Minister’s mantra of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Vocal for Local’.
Through such fairs, we are striving to connect rural artisans, women self-help groups, craftsmen, rural entrepreneurs, as well as agricultural products and rural skills with national and international markets. The stalls set up by self-help groups in this fair are promoting the message of ‘Adopt Swadeshi’, where we must take a pledge to prioritize products made in our villages, our state, and our country.

The Chief Minister said that when we buy Swadeshi products, it is not merely the purchase of a commodity, but an investment in the dreams of our rural artisans, women power, and entrepreneurs. Therefore, adopting Swadeshi not only keeps our culture and tradition alive but also secures the livelihood of our farmers, craftsmen, and local entrepreneurs.
The Chief Minister said that the Hon’ble Prime Minister has stated that the foundation of Atmanirbhar Bharat lies in Swadeshi. This fair is a strong step in that direction, serving as a medium to bring national and international recognition to our local products. The call of the Prime Minister has been embraced first by our women power, and today, our self-help group sisters, through their hard work and skills, are giving new dimensions to Swadeshi products. I appeal to all of you to strengthen the ‘Adopt Swadeshi’ campaign by purchasing Swadeshi products from the stalls set up in this fair and empower women economically.

The Chief Minister said that when a woman becomes economically empowered, she not only strengthens her family but also contributes to strengthening the entire society. Keeping this in view, we have placed special focus on women empowerment through schemes like ‘Lakhpati Didi Yojana’, ‘Mukhyamantri Sashakt Bahna Utsav Yojana’, and ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Self-Help Group Empowerment Scheme’.

The Chief Minister said that under the Lakhpati Didi Yojana, more than 1.65 lakh women in our state have attained the pride of becoming Lakhpatis. Under the ‘Mukhyamantri Sashakt Bahna Utsav Yojana’, around 2000 stalls set up by women have achieved marketing worth about ₹5.5 crore, setting a new example of entrepreneurship. Not only this, through the ‘House of Himalayas’ brand launched by our government, various local products made by our sisters are now reaching different corners of the world.

Under the Rural Livelihood Mission, more than 68 thousand self-help groups have been formed in the state, with over 5 lakh members connected. Additionally, more than 7,500 village organizations and 534 cluster-level organizations have also been established.
The Chief Minister said that our government is working with full commitment to empower women farmers as well. Under the ‘Farm Livelihood’ and ‘Mahila Kisan Sashaktikaran Yojana’, the skills and capabilities of more than 3 lakh women farmers in the state have been developed. Besides this, 2.5 lakh agri-nutri gardens and kitchen gardens have been established, and around 500 farm machinery banks have been made available. Not only this, but our government is also connecting more than 5 thousand women farmers of the state with organic farming.
Through all these efforts, the economic condition of the women in our state has improved. Today, women are scripting a new story of self-reliance, which is clearly reflected in this Saras Mela.
