The Congress party expressed strong displeasure in Pauri over the Enforcement Directorate (ED) summons issued to Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congress leader Sonia Gandhi. In protest, Congress staged a demonstration against the central government and burned an effigy.
During the protest outside the District Magistrate’s office on Wednesday, Congress District President Vinod Negi said that the central government is continuously acting with a mindset of revenge. He claimed that those opposing the government’s wrong policies are being pressured. He further alleged that the misuse of central agencies is turning democracy into a mockery.
During the protest, the agitated Congress workers raised slogans against the central government and burned an effigy. The Congress leaders asserted that the party has never bowed down to pressure and never will.
