The electricity bill of Pratit Nagar Panchayat building has not been paid since 2019, resulting in the halt of all development work in the gram panchayat for the last six months. Several unresolved issues led to villagers and public representatives surrounding the panchayat secretary in protest.

In the Pratit Nagar Gram Panchayat under Doiwala Block, no development work has been carried out for the past six months, and payments for previous works have also not been made. This has led to growing anger among the residents. On Wednesday, local representatives and villagers surrounded the panchayat secretary and strongly voiced their grievances.

Since the appointment of Gram Administrators in village panchayats, all developmental activities have come to a standstill. Not even a single issue has been resolved in the last six months. On Wednesday, when Panchayat Secretary Kripa Ram Joshi arrived in Pratit Nagar, he had to face the residents’ anger. Locals Mohan Kandwal, Rishiram Sharma, and Dilbar Panwar shared that solar street lights in the area are not functioning, and the waste collection vehicle operated by the panchayat is being used to collect garbage from Raiwala Cantonment instead of the village, where garbage is piling up at multiple locations.

Due to the electricity disconnection in the panchayat building, several administrative tasks have been halted. People are forced to visit multiple times just to get copies of the family register. Many incomplete works are left hanging in uncertainty. Enraged representatives have warned that if the pending works are not completed by April 20, they will lock the panchayat building and gherao the District Magistrate’s office.
