Rishikesh-Karnprayag Rail Update: Final Station Tunnel Complete, Gauchar-Siwai and Narkota-Sumerpur Sections Ready.
Final tunnel breakthrough at the last station of the Karnaprayag-Rishikesh rail line in Siwai; Tunnel breakthrough achieved between Gauchar and Siwai.
Officials and employees of HCC-DBL company expressed joy over the successful breakthrough of the 6.5-kilometer-long main tunnel between Gauchar and Siwai on the Rishikesh-Karnaprayag rail line.
Chief Project Manager Ajit Singh Yadav informed that the construction of the 6.5 km long main tunnel of the railway line between Gauchar and Siwai, under the Rishikesh-Karnaprayag rail project, was started in 2021. With relentless efforts day and night, the company has successfully achieved the breakthrough.
He added that completing this escape tunnel through and through has proven to be a milestone for the project. It highlights the joint efforts and technical expertise of the stakeholders involved.
The implementation of this project was carried out under the supervision of a joint venture comprising M/s HCC-DBL (Contractor), Tumas India Pvt. Ltd., and Altinok (Project Management Consultancy), along with Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) as the employer/client.
To achieve this breakthrough from T16 P1 Gauchar to T16 P2, a total distance of 6,322 meters was covered by ET Siwai, accomplished after a long journey of 3 years and 9 months of hard work. Several challenges were encountered during the excavation process.
