Coaching classes for Scheduled Caste (SC) students have been started today at HNB Garhwal University by the Social Welfare Department. This scheme is meant for SC students whose family income is less than ₹2.5 lakh per annum. Two institutes have been selected for the programme—HNB Garhwal University and Ramnagar PG Degree College.

Applications were invited from final-year undergraduate students, graduates, and postgraduates on the basis of merit in their semester examinations. A batch of 50 students was proposed. At the Srinagar centre, 46 students have been enrolled, while 71 students have been enrolled at the Ramnagar centre. Classes have started at both locations. The coaching will cover only General Studies for prelims, mains, and interview preparation. The budget has been released to the districts. Teaching will be carried out by faculty members of the institutes along with guest teachers from coaching institutes.
