Vikasnagar — Addressing a press conference, Jan Sangharsh Morcha President and former GMVN Vice-Chairman Raghunath Singh Negi said that recently, in village Sunhera of district Haridwar, a scam involving land worth about ₹50 crore was carried out through a fake Power of Attorney. The way two police personnel deployed under “special favor/oral orders” of the Inspector General’s office have been arrested by the STF and their involvement exposed, it clearly indicates that they were being protected somewhere by the IG office. Therefore, it has become necessary for the government to conduct a narco test of both these police personnel.

The question arises — on whose recommendation were these personnel transferred from other districts to Haridwar and brought to the IG office through oral orders, and who is behind this entire story? This also needs to be investigated. A scam echoing throughout the entire state cannot be an ordinary one. It is also possible that the said Power of Attorney was executed under the pressure of the IG office by the police personnel in the name of their relatives.

Negi said that these two “small fish” have been caught, but why have the “big crocodiles” not been trapped yet? Could it be that IG Rajeev Swaroop was providing protection to these police personnel? Was the scam executed under his directions? Why has no action been taken against him yet? Why haven’t the call records of this nexus been examined? The nexus among councillors, gangsters, police personnel, and big sharks must also be exposed.

It is surprising that the public relies on the police to protect their property from criminals and looters, but here, the police themselves have turned predators, looting the people.

The Morcha demands that, in the interest of justice, the government suspend IG Rajeev Swaroop and initiate action to conduct the narco test of both arrested police personnel.

If the government fails to conduct an investigation, the Morcha will be compelled to launch an agitation.
