Congratulating the students’ parents and teachers, the Governor described it as a moment of pride for the entire university family.
The Governor awarded gold medals to the students who performed the best at the convocation ceremony. He expressed happiness over the fact that the majority of the medal recipients were girls. He said that women of Uttarakhand are progressing in every field. The Governor stated that this is a significant change, presenting an excellent example of women empowerment in society. Women are enhancing their participation in the path of progress and development by playing a strong role in nation-building.
The Governor urged all students to dream with open eyes and work towards turning those dreams into reality. He said that as you step out of this institution after completing your education in the field of medicine, you are not just becoming doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, or health experts — you are about to become an important pillar of society. He emphasized that the medical profession is not merely a means of livelihood; it is a noble responsibility that involves alleviating people’s suffering, treating the sick, and contributing to the welfare of society.
He expressed confidence that all students would uphold compassion, service to society, and integrity in their professional lives through their knowledge and skills. He reminded them that a patient is not just a medical case — they are a human being troubled by illness, caught between fear and hope. They require not only medical treatment but also encouragement and emotional support.
The Governor said that the country and the world are currently facing various health challenges. In such times, the need for dedicated and skilled healthcare providers is greater than ever. He urged all students to stay updated with the latest medical knowledge and always be ready to serve humanity under any circumstances. He also noted that today’s era is the age of technology, and technology plays a vital role in the medical field. Technologies like artificial intelligence and robotics are making medical procedures more efficient and precise.
The Governor stated that the state government is continuously working towards providing quality healthcare, increasing the number of seats in medical education, and establishing new medical colleges. There has been unprecedented progress in the healthcare system, and immense possibilities are emerging for the future. He urged students to always remain eager to adopt the latest technologies, as this will not only make patient treatment more efficient but also enhance their knowledge and professional capabilities.
On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat congratulated all the students and extended his best wishes. He said that students pursuing medical education must achieve full proficiency not only in theoretical knowledge but also in practical skills. There is no shortage of talent in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand; what they need are the right opportunities and proper guidance — and the government is committed to providing that. The state government will ensure that the Medical Education University faces no shortage of resources or funds to provide international-level opportunities in medical education to the youth of Uttarakhand.
He mentioned that the state government is continuously making strides in the healthcare sector. With the establishment of medical colleges in Pithoragarh and Rudrapur in the next one and a half to two years, the total number of government medical colleges in the state will increase to eight, raising the number of MBBS students to over one thousand. The state has 98 nursing colleges and more than 100 paramedical colleges. The government is also set to appoint 450 new doctors. He added that students earning their degrees with specialized technical knowledge in various fields will bring pride to both themselves and the state by making their mark not only in the country but also in various global industrial sectors.
