Financial Losses Spark Questions Over City Buses Deployed by Pauri Municipality for Public Use

0 19

The two city buses introduced by the Pauri Municipality for the convenience of local residents are now proving to be a loss-making deal. Both buses have been operating at a loss for a long time. Ward No. 4 councilor Arvind Rawat has raised concerns over these buses. He stated that while the buses were launched for the convenience of the public, they have been incurring losses for several years.

He highlighted that each city bus has a capacity of 30 passengers but still operates overloaded on a daily basis. Despite this, the municipality is facing financial losses, which he finds puzzling. He has demanded that these city buses be withdrawn and replaced with tempo travelers, which would be more economical and beneficial for the municipality.

Municipal Chairperson Himani Negi acknowledged that both buses are indeed running at a loss. However, she added that shutting them down abruptly would cause inconvenience to the public. She mentioned that the issue was raised during the board meeting and a decision will be taken soon.
