A proposal to open a liquor shop in Rudrapur Kendriya Colony has been passed by the government. Following this, local residents of Indira Colony qreached the Collector’s office and submitted a memorandum to the DM, demanding that the liquor shop should not be opened. The residents expressed concerns that the shop’s presence in a residential area would cause difficulties for schoolchildren and women passing through the area.
In the memorandum, the residents highlighted that an English and country liquor shop has been proposed and is set to open soon in Indira Colony. They pointed out that several temples, including the Vishal Jain Temple, Santoshi Mata Temple, and Shiv Temple, are located directly across from the proposed site. Additionally, the area is surrounded by Adarsh Colony, Indira Colony, Singh Colony, and Jain Colony, with the Ramleela Ground nearby, where religious and social events are frequently organized.
Residents fear that placing a liquor shop in the middle of a densely populated area will attract anti-social elements, pollute the environment, and disrupt the peace of the locality. They have urged authorities to relocate the liquor shop to another location.
