After being released from jail, UKD leader Ashish Negi reached the Shaheed Smarak located at the court premises and raised serious questions on the police administration. He alleged that innocent people are being shot in the legs while blindfolded and with their feet tied.
Negi stated that many of the accused are actually innocent, but they are being falsely implicated in cases like POCSO and NDPS due to improper legal representation. He accused the police of targeting specific individuals and deliberately shooting them in the same leg. He mentioned that the same SO, Shanky Kumar, who arrested him, was also accused of misconduct by Lucky Rawat, a local resident, who is still in jail.
He alleged that many hill residents are being oppressed and emphasized that there are people who will continue to fight against all forms of injustice until their last breath. “Oppression is a furnace where tyranny burns to ashes,” he said, “and from that fire either bowed shoulders return from jail or mustaches bristling with defiance.”
Negi pledged to continue the struggle by visiting villages to raise public awareness. He declared a major political fight ahead and, challenging the BJP from the martyr’s site, swore on the 42 sacrifices that by 2027 they would not back down, and the bugle for the battle has already been sounded.
